Sensitive skin is more of a condition than an actual skin type. Sensitive skin is characterised by a fine texture with a thin epidermis and superficial blood vessels. It is commonly dry, delicate and prone to allergic reactions. Sensitive skin overreacts with redness, pustules, bumps, and sometimes erosions to many external stimuli including environmental and aesthetic treatments.
The basic structural change is sensitive skin is a cellular defect manifested as loss of its barrier function, dryness, redness, irritation, inflammation and dilated capillaries.
